Rabbit Year Revelations

2023 is the Chinese year of the Rabbit, fourth of the twelve Chinese zodiac animals. The Rabbit’s element is yin Wood, resilient yet flexible like grass shoots and bamboo. It is assigned to the East, characterised by the freshness of Spring season, vitality, growth, inspiration and creativeness. East is also where the element Wood belongs. Wood element is associated with long tree trunk shapes and all green colours ranging from jade, sage and lime to emerald, holly and pine, all resonating closely with nature. Water element nourishes and strengthens Wood.

In the light of so many unpredictable global events arising recently, lets consider the bigger picture of the Rabbit’s natural way of life as a role model for this year. Rabbits are active, free spirited and sociable animals with a reputation for romantic encounters with their kindred creatures. Living in fields, hedgerows and woodlands, they are playfully curious with keen senses and quick reactions, robust and adaptable.

Traditional Chinese Feng Shui helps people to thrive by being responsive to individual human needs. Its underpinning essence is to have a harmonious connection between man and nature. Sustainability, conservation, ecology and biophillic design are all part of meaningful Feng Shui today. it is recognised that people tend to feel more stressed and less healthy when open access to natural outside space is lacking. Fortunately environmental professionals are starting to factor more green spaces into many new urban planning designs. To replenish yourself this year, aim as often as possible to walk in the natural surroundings of parks, meadows and forests or near water, beside ponds, canals, rivers or the seashore.

Plants are vital for maintaining our essential inter-relationship with nature. They provide us with oxygen, food, medicine, shelter and mindful tranquility. Try standing beside an Oak tree if you are tense or fatigued, touch its trunk to feel calm, earthed and re-energised. Oaks can help you discharge unhealthy electro-stress from your body and rebalance it. They tend to grow over an underground water vein so they are able to conduct bio electricity to the water, which is why it is advised not to shelter under one during a lightning storm. ‘My passion for Trees’ is a really charming yet scientific presentation by Judi Dench, you can find it on DVD and youtube.

Spring into action this year with a fresh new look for your main entrance door area, the qi mouth of your home. For example, repaint the door, replace worn door furniture and possibly add vibrant planters nearby. Please also be sure that your hallway feels welcoming and has no obstructions or clutter.

2023 is a hugely significant transition year in Feng Shui terms according to its system for evaluating time termed ‘Flying Stars’. We are entering a powerful new twenty year time cycle that becomes fully active in February 2024. The qi quality is changing from Earth to Fire this year. The strong Fire energy will assert itself as the new time period 9 becomes established, overriding elements of the waning current period 8. A site visit, re-visit or on-line consultation would include an update of previous Feng Shui recommendations to help you gain optimum advantage of the new Fire potential for success and avert any undesirable influences.

As this is such a significant year for a fresh start, it will also be highly beneficial to clear undesirable traces of past situations and revitalise your property energetically, ready to engage with positive new qi. I have been successfully practicing subtle space cleansing and environmental healing professionally for 30 years. it is possible to advise you before visiting whether it would be helpful for your place.

Wishing you a very fulfilling and healthy year of the Rabbit.
